Description
A Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter/bomber, WWII-era. This particular model was part of the famous "Flying Tigers" group (1st American Volunteer Group) that served in China in 1941-42.
This group was stationed in China and were tasked with harassing and destroying Japanese airfields and convoys and protecting Chinese military and civilian assets. They were a very successful group against the Japanese and were credited with around 300 kills versus only 14 fighters lost.
The group is famous for their courageous and effective actions and the "shark face" nose art.
