It has no memory...

I just recently returned from a vacation where a friend and I visited another friend who's currently living out in Oregon. I'm from New Jersey and my friend Stacey is from Rhode Island. It was my first visit to the west coast and, most importantly, my first visit to the Pacific Ocean.

I'm a marine biologist and I have a fascination with anything to do with the sea. I grew up along the Atlantic and I've always wanted to see the Pacific. This photograph from my vacation captured my first glimpse of it. The coastline is so different from anything I've seen in the east. Everything was just so perfect; like it was made to be photographed. The weather, the water, the mountains, and the beach all cooperated to make my first visit and this scene unforgettable.

When I saw this while standing on the promontory it brought to mind the titular quotation from "The Shawshank Redemption". It seemed fitting.
